Suspended IPS Officer Joydeep Nayak sent to Choudwar Jail

Joydeep NayakSuspended Odia IPS Officer Joydeep Nayak, who was produced in the Special Vigilance Court on Saturday following the completion of his remand period, has been sent to Choudwar Jail.

The Vigilance department has sought his remand for two more days, but the hearing has been deferred till Monday. The court has directed to provide proper healthcare to the suspended IPS officer in jail.

Notably, Joydeep has been arrested from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the misappropriation of funds worth Rs 88 lakh, which was meant for computer education of SC/ST students and self help groups (SHGs) in Odisha.

He has been suspended by Tripura government, a 1991-batch IPS officer due to unauthorized absence from the duty.
