Telecom Services In Odisha affected by Cyclone Amphan

The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) Secretary Anshu Prakash said that Cyclone Amphan is most likely to impact telecom services in Odisha critically. Prakash held a conference with telecom operators and infrastructure providers to examine the status of telecom connectivity. All the telcos, foundation providers, representatives from West Bengal Telecom Circle, Eastern Telecom Region, CGMT Odisha, TAIPA and COAI attended the meeting under the chairmanship of Prakash.

A statement by Tower & Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA) stated that the meeting was called to list out all the affected places where the towers are down, and disruptions have occurred in optical fibre cables. To also view of those destroyed how many can be repaired in the next 24 hours. Secretary Prakash has asked both Airtel and Vodafone Idea to get 1,000 sites working in the next 24 hours.
