Unable to bear Torture, Woman kills Husband in Bhubaneswar

A 32-year-old woman, who had been subjected to torture by her drunken husband over the years, finally lost her patience and killed the man with a stone at their residence in Bhubaneswar. The victim was identified as Haribandhu Das (40). His wife Mamata Das was arrested by the Mancheswar Police.

Haribandhu and Mamata were staying at the Railway Quarters near Sainik School in Bhubaneswar. The deceased was working as a Machinist at the Railway Maintenance Factory since 1998. For the last 15 years since his marriage, he was torturing Mamata and even made his house a hangout place for his friends, who used to gather there and have drinks almost every night.

The husband and wife used to fight almost everyday because of Haribandhu’s boozing habits, who also used to beat her on small matters. On the fateful night of Saturday, they had a big fight, following which Mamata lost her cool. While Haribandhu was completely drunk and unable to move, she attacked him with a stone and killed him on the spot.

With Haribandhu’s death and Mamata’s arrest, their 13-year-old son Rohan, who is a student of Standard VIII at Central School No. 3 in Mancheswar, will have a tough time to deal with the situation.
