Voting for Bijepur by-poll underway; 2.21 lakh voters to cast vote

ONI Bureau:  The voting for the Bijepur Assembly constituency is underway at almost all booths under three blocks, Bijeupr, Gaisilet and Barpali in Bargarh district today.

The by-poll began at 8 am. Reportedly, as many as 2,11,114 voters including 1,14,720 male voters and 1,40,853 female voters to cast their vote at 281 polling booths.

However, Polling interrupted in booth no-88,102 and 141 due to technical snag in Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine.

As a measure of security, 22 booths monitored through CCTV, 5 companies of CRPF deployed and 12 entry points to Bijepur Assembly constituency sealed to avoid any untoward situation.

Besides the presence of ‘micro-observers’ at 40 booths, web casting systems installed at 20 booths.
