Champions Trophy: India Thrash Pakistan By 124 Runs

ONI Bureau: India crushed Pakistan by 124 runs (D/L) to start their ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at Edgbaston on Sunday. The match was first reduced to 48 overs a side, but later, target was revised to 41 overs.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. India posted 319/3 in 48 overs, thanks to Rohit Sharma (91), Shikhar Dhawan (68), Virat Kohli (81*), Yuvraj Singh (53) and Hardik Pandya (20*).

Pakistan was never in the game. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They first chased the target of 324 from 48 overs and then 289 from 41 overs. They bowled out for 164 in 33.4 overs. Azhar Ali scored 50, while Mohammad Hafeez made 33.

For India, Umesh Yadav took three wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. Yuvraj Singh was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
