Deploy Tourist Police: Dr. Mahesh Sharma MoS Tourism

In a written reply to Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), Dr. Mahesh Sharma said that the tourism ministry has taken various steps to ensure safety and security of tourists, including foreign tourists.

According to a release issued by the Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday, Sharma added that the ministry had issued guidelines on Safety and Security of Tourists for State Governments/Union Territories and Tips for Travelers in September 2014.

The ministry have adopted the ‘Code of Conduct for Safe & Honourable Tourism’ and advised the State Governments/UT Administrations to deploy Tourist Police at prominent tourist spots.
Dr. Sharma added that the ministry of tourism is running Social Awareness Campaign ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ on televisions.

The minister has also said in his writing reply that Tourist Facilitation and Security Organization (TFSO) will be set up in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh with central financial assistance.
