The Deputy Secretary of Food, Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department Bijay K Prusty on Tuesday announced that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) allowed the State Government to convert the Jan Dhan accounts into normal Savings accounts.
Jan Dhan account holders will have to submit copies of their Voter ID or Aadhaar Card or MGNREGA Card including Know Your Customer (KYC) documents for converting their accounts into Savings accounts.
Though, a ceiling of Rs. 50,000 deposit has been fixed in Jan Dhan accounts earlier, after conversion there will be no limit in the deposit amount. It will help farmers for paddy procurement across the State.
It is to be noted that, Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 28 August 2014, is a National Mission for Financial Inclusion to provide universal and clear access to banking facilities.
