9 months after drought declaration, 53% farmers yet to get input subsidy

drought53% of farmers in Odisha yet to get the agriculture input subsidy by the State Government even after the nine months of completion of drought declaration.

As per the reports, only 2% of the drought-affected farmers has received the input subsidy while 5% in Cuttack and Jajpur districts.

However, the State Government has directed all the District Collectors to complete the disbursal of the agriculture input subsidy to all the affected farmers in the state by 31st of this month.

Around Rs. 926 crore has already been released to the offices of respective collectors. But only 47 percent of the input subsidy has been completed so far, said by Special Relief Commissioner Pradipta Mohapatra.

The State Government has sought an drought assistance of Rs. 2344.99 crore, but the Centre has sanctioned only Rs. 815 crore.
