Bhubaneswar to host 75th Indian Road Congress

image​Bhubaneswar gets ready to host 75th Indian Road Congress, the national body of Highway Engineers of the country for 5 days from 18th to 22nd January , 2015. Preparations for the Congress have been reviewed by Chief Secretary Sri Gokul Chandra Pati in secretariat conference hall today wherein Secretary Works Sri N.K. Pradhan presented the schedule of the congress along with updated preparations for discussion.

Reviewing the preparations, Chief Secretary Sri Pati has directed to make appropriate security arrangements for the guests. The department has been advised to share the list of participating guests and delegates with police for the purpose. Sri Pati has also advised to showcase tourism, textile and handloom treasures of Odisha in the event with active involvement of the departments of Tourism and Handloom & Textiles.

​The event has been scheduled to be organized at Janata maidan, Bhubaneswar. Secretary works Sri Pradhan replying to media queries said that around 4000 delegates including 3000 from other States are expected to participate in this event.

Around six technical sessions, one business session and one council meeting has been scheduled in different dates of the congress spreading over 5 days. The subjects like road safety, use of fly ash & waste materials in road construction, road planning designs, mitigation of permanent trouble spots on roads, road research, modern technologies for non-destructive pavement, assessment of Odisha PWD roads using network survey vehicle, cable stayed & suspension bridge, SDA technologies in steel bridge construction, advanced traveler information systems etc have been slated for deliberation in technical sessions.

Chief Secretary Sri Pati has advised Secretary Works to collect and document the best practices on road safety adopted in other States and develop those for training and motivation. Various departemts like Police, BMC, ADG Fire Service, H & UD , Tourism & Culture, Handloom & Textiles have been directed to provide all necessary assistance for smooth and successful organization of this national event.

​The Development Commissioner Sri U.N. Behera, PR secretary Home Sri C.J. Venugopal, Secretary Textile & Handloom Chitra Arumugam , Police Commissioner Dr R.P. Sharma along with senior officers from respective departments participated in discussions.
