Fire at Shopping Mall in Cuttack; Properties Gutted

ONI Bureau: A major fire engulfed the City Style Shopping Mall at Badamabadi in Cuttack at around 11:45 AM, triggering panic all over. Properties worth crores of rupees were gutted in the fire, as four shops were burnt to ashes.

10 Fire Tenders have been pressed into service. The ODRAF team has reached the spot, while senior Fire officials have also rushed to the spot. In total, around 100 employees are at work to douse the fire.

The City Style Shopping Mall as well as Geeta Fashion garment house were gutted in the fire. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. But, electric short circuit is suspected to be behind the mishap.

Massive traffic jam has been reported on the route from Badambadi to Link Road due to the fire. At least 10 other shops near the Mall are worst affected.

Meanwhile, B.K. Sharma, Director General of Police, Fire Service, told the media that a probe will be ordered into the fire mishap.
