Odisha: BJP seeks removal of Pipili Toll Gate on NH 316

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has upped the ante on the issue of toll collection at the Jayashapatna toll gate near Pipili on NH 316, which connects Bhubaneswar to Puri. The party has sought the removal of the Toll Gate.

The Toll Gate was inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari during his Odisha visit in July 2015. However, the toll collection had to be put on hold following stiff resistance from the locals in Pipili.

BJP leader Prabhat Parida alleged that the Toll Gate was established to rob off residents of Nimapara, Gop, Kakatpur, Astarang, Konark, Delang and Pipili and rules were flouted while setting it up. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been intimated about this issue. He has been urged to withdraw the Toll Gate from the area.
