Unofficial Sunstroke Toll rises to 108 in Odisha, Govt says 17

As the intense heatwave continued in Western Odisha with little relief to Coastal Odisha, the unofficial death toll has gone up to 108. The Odisha Government has, however, put the toll at 17. On Friday, Bhawanipatna recorded 45.5 degrees C to emerge as the hottest town of the state.

Sonepur (45.4 degrees C), Bolangir (45 degrees C) and Titilagarh (45 degrees C) were the other hottest towns of Odisha. Meanwhile, hailstorm rains brought some relief in Sunabeda, Pottangi, Semiliguda and other areas of Koraput district. Situation remained grim in Western Odisha and Ganjam though. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 39.7 and 37 degrees C respectively.
